ShipHunt Hints
"This is the Admiral at
Headquarters... You are embarking on a search and destroy
mission. I expect 110% from each and every one of you."
"Captain, take care of
your crew, and your Submarine! Here are a few pointers from the
days when I was a commander:"
DON'T:
- Don't run out of Oxygen!
- Don't go too deep!
- Don't waste torpedoes, you
have a limited number!
- Don't let the batteries go
dead or you won't be able to move (or run the
compressor)!
- Don't run out of
compressed air (you need it to blow the ballast tanks to
surface, watch the PSI (pounds per square inch) dial just
below the PSI button).
DO:
- Do sink the enemy before
they sink you (line em' up, fire torpedoes by tapping
tube buttons)!
- Do assess the enemy (tap
on the ship), larger ships require more hits.
- Do aim carefully, consider
the enemies speed and heading!
- Do follow torpedoes as
they are tracked on the maps.
- Do realize that torpedoes
don't reload instantly.
- Do run away from depth
charges (tap the map twice for top down depth charge
view). Listen for depth charge explosions.
- Do think about diesel and
compressor usage... they both use oxygen!
- Do realize that some
repairs can only be performed on the surface.
- Do pay attention to
warning buzzers.
And Captain...
- Periscope depth is
indicated by the 'P' on the depth meter.
- Bottom center dial
indicates current heading (it is not a compass).
- Intelligence gathered by
headquarters indicates that enemy ships don't typically
track submarines forever. Listen for enemy sonar.
ShipHunt Combat
Captain:
Requests for additional fuel or torpedoes from Fleet Operations
will be denied. The Admiral maintains that there is enough fuel
and weaponry to regain possession of the quadrant. Maintain
stealth... this is crucial to a successful campaign. Realize;
Submarine warfare is more strategy and brain than it is trigger.
Be advised:
Commanders at sea are reporting great success from the newly
installed 'apparatus'. Submarines can replenish oxygen stores
without compromising their position! Captain, you must figure out
how to do this!
Good Luck Sir!
